Our Beef
Quality Beef starts with quality breeding and mating choices. Carcass quality and EPD's are one of the criteria when choosing what Sires to breed to. Decades of AI breeding for beef quality gives J2 Cattle beef a quality that the consumer cannot find in the commercial food chain.

Our process
We grow our calves out naturally. At weaning, we look at the performance data, measurements, genotype, and phenotype to determine which animals enter our consumer beef program. After weaning, the calves are put on pasture where they grow naturally until it is time to be placed in the feedlot. Most animals are around 12-13 months of age by this time. They then spend the next few months on a high-quality finishing ration to increase marbling and tenderness. All animals are harvested before the age of two years old. The animals are then taken to the processor for harvest in which they are aged after slaughter for approximately 14 days. This aging process helps with the tenderness and flavor of our beef. The finished product is then vacuum packed, labeled and ready for the consumer. Everything is FDA inspected and J2 Cattle is licensed in the state of North Carolina to sell retail beef. Our beef is available in 1/4's, 1/2's, and whole.
