In 2004, Jackie Jr. pitched the idea after graduating college to his father to start running a few head of cattle on their land together.  That was the year that Jackie Sr. and Jackie Jr. began building what is now known as J2 Cattle Farm in Trinity, North Carolina. After graduating college, Jackie Jr. with the help of his father purchased six registered Angus bred cows that go back to SAV 8180 Traveler 004, a tremendous Angus Sire. From the beginning, before the first ever breeding season Jackie Jr. knew that learning to successfully Artificially breed was required if we were to improve the genetics of the herd.  Genetics has always been a top priority ever since the first set of calves hit the ground. Jackie Jr was able to locate an AI breeding 3-day course just prior to breeding season in Rocky Mt, Virginia to become certified to Artificially Breed. The initial 6 cows were AI bred after calving and was the start of our operation.  As the years progressed, J2 Cattle Farm has only purchased a handful of cattle since the original six.  With the help of AI breeding and rigorous culling based on data, J2 Cattle Farm has a reputation for producing strong healthy cattle with good conformity, and docility.  Starting out with a few cattle and growing organically through AI breeding and heifer retainment allowed for a solid group of cattle with excellent feet, reproduction, and longevity. Through the years, Jackie and wife Andrea had a daughter Ashton, followed by their son Bryson.  J2 Cattle is a family farm, where we try to give back to the land and do everything, possible to raise good healthy cattle.  We are rooted in producing good cattle that are structurally sound, docile and easy working.  Our management practices always put the welfare and wellbeing of the animal above all else.  Today, J2 Cattle serves other farmers and ranchers with sound quality seedstock for their own cattle herds as well as directly selling to consumers some of the best, most nutritious protein one can buy for their families
